Monthly (September 2010 to June 2011). The two hour group format includes didactic presentations, DVD training tapes, and discussion of Bowen theory concepts and principles. Supervision/consultation of participant’s own family work and clinical work is the primary focus. The consultation group structure is based on the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family’s (Washington, D.C.) group consultation model. Group participants are chosen from members of the mental health professions and other related professional disciplines. Some clinical experience and access to individuals, couples, families, and/or work systems is desirable. Participant selection is based more on motivation and interest than on previous clinical experience. Participation in the consultation group requires a commitment of two hours per month for six consecutive months. To maximally benefit from the consultation group, consistent monthly attendance is encouraged.
The Bowen theory consultation groups are offered at 625 Third Ave. Chula Vista, CA. 91910 on Thursday afternoons, from 4:30 - 6:30 pm (Group 2) and on Friday mornings, from 9:30 - 12:00 pm (Group 1). Each group meets once a month. The cost per month is $110.00 for licensed professionals/others and $90.00 for students, trainees and/or interns, payable monthly in advance.
